What’s Involved?
Revisional breast surgery involves the removal and/or replacement of saline or silicone breast implants. Revisional breast surgery is often performed to permanently remove implants or change the type implant to correct any complications from a prior breast augmentation. The surgery can resolve deflated saline breast implants, leaks in silicone implants, tightening of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture), shift in implant positions, or aging implants.
The surgery is also performed if you want to change the size and shape of your existing implants or re-contour sagging breast tissue after pregnancy or weight fluctuations. Dr. Lussier may also recommend liposuction for any additional fat under the arms to complement your revisional breast surgery, so that it enhances your overall aesthetic.
If you are looking to get a more natural look and feel to your breasts, then silicone implants are a safe option to replace saline implants. Silicone implants are softer, more rounded and sit higher than saline implants. More women are making the change from saline to silicone for their revisional breast surgery. Dr Lussier will discuss your options of saline or silicone implants during your consultation to determine the type of implants that will achieve the look and feel that you desire.
